Our Story

Designers, Makers, and the Heart Behind Lively Distinct Designs

Lively Distinct Designs is a team of nursery designers and makers who have spent a lifetime learning how a beautiful room comes together. When you bring us into your nursery project, you aren’t handing it off to a faceless studio. You’re working with people who know exactly what it feels like to prepare a space for a baby you already love.

We know the thrill of choosing the first fabric, the nesting instinct that kicks in as the due date gets close, and the tenderness of standing in an empty room, imagining the little one who will sleep there. Those feelings are where every design we create begins.

A nursery is so much more than decor. It’s the first place your child learns comfort, safety, and love, and it holds memories you’ll treasure long after the crib is packed away.

That’s why your baby’s room is never a template to us. Your favorite colors, your family traditions, the storybook you loved as a child, and the name you’ve already whispered a hundred times can all find their way into the design.

Experience

A Lifetime in Nursery and Home Design, Rooted in Texas

Our roots are in Texas, and our experience in this industry runs deep. It began at Baby’s 1st in Houston and grew through work with big box retailers, high-end stores, and furniture makers. Each role taught us something your nursery benefits from today: how fabrics wear, how furniture scales in a real room, how families actually live in the spaces they create, and where it’s worth spending more versus saving.

Lively Distinct Designs was founded so families anywhere could enjoy a luxury nursery design experience without needing a designer down the street. Everything happens virtually, from the first conversation to the finished plan, so you can design your baby’s room from your own couch, on your own schedule, no matter where you live.

We also design with the future in mind. Whenever we can, we choose pieces and palettes that are budget-conscious and easy to carry into a toddler or big-kid room, so your investment keeps working long after the baby years.

Why We Do This

A Mother's Heart in Every Nursery Design

Lively Distinct Designs was born from a mother’s heart, one that knows both the deep joy of holding a baby and the quiet ache of a love that never had the chance to grow. That joy and that loss shaped our studio, and both are woven into every design we create.

A nursery isn’t just a room. It’s where dreams begin, where love lives, and where every detail matters, because the little person who fills it matters more than anything.

So when you share your hopes for your baby’s space, we listen first. We want to understand your vision, your family’s story, and the journey you’re on before we design anything. Whether you’re expecting your first baby, welcoming a rainbow baby, or getting ready for twins, you’ll be treated with care from your very first message.

When you’re ready, we’re here, and we’d be honored to be part of your story.

How We Work

What It's Like to Design Your Nursery With Us

We Listen First

Before any design begins, you’ll tell us about your style, your family, your budget, and the feeling you want the room to hold.

Designed Around Your Story

Every custom piece is built around your vision, from crib bedding made in your colors to a full room plan that reflects your family.

Virtual, but Made by Hand

The studio is all virtual, yet real people design and craft every detail. With our talented, imaginative design team behind every project, you’re covered.

The LDD Brand

Our Signature Marks

The gold and navy unicorn is the heart of Lively Distinct Designs: a reminder to be the unicorn, unique and original, just like your baby’s nursery.

Where to Begin

Start Your Custom Nursery With a $99 Bedding Brainstorm

Not sure where to start? The Bedding Brainstorm is a one-on-one design session where we talk through your theme, colors, and fabrics. It’s the first step toward a personal quote for custom crib bedding made just for your baby.

You’ll leave with a clear direction instead of a hundred saved photos, and $30 of your Brainstorm is credited toward your bedding order. Every bedding set also includes 7 months of designer access at no charge, so you’re never on your own while the rest of the room comes together.
